Kamado Core Skills: From Beginner to Pitmaster-in-the-Making

New to Kamado cooking or thinking about taking the plunge? Maybe you’ve got a Kamado sitting on your patio but feel like you’re only scratching the surface? This class is your shortcut to confidence, consistency, and flame-fuelled success.

In this hands-on, four-hour session, you’ll learn how to get the absolute best out of your Kamado - mastering airflow, temperature control, and fuel management so you can cook everything from a perfect reverse-seared steak to a Sunday rotisserie chicken with ease.

You’ll cook across a range of Kamado grills, including those from Kamado Joe (classic and Konnected), Kama Gear and also the new BSTRD kamados. No matter what brand you own (or are thinking of buying), the techniques are fully transferable to Big Green Egg, Primo, Pit Boss etc.

Under the guidance of our expert instructor, you’ll:
🔥 Build and maintain the perfect fire
🔥 Master airflow and temperature control
🔥 Learn when to cook direct vs indirect, and how to use heat deflectors effectively
🔥 Explore smoking techniques and clean smoke flavour
🔥 Experiment with the Joetisserie and different cooking surfaces
🔥 Apply rubs, sauces, and seasonings for maximum flavour
🔥 Safely shut down your Kamado like a pro

And of course, we’ll be cooking (and eating) a feast of dishes to put your new skills into practice:

This is a hands-on class, so you’ll have the chance to get stuck in - lighting fires, adjusting vents, and handling the tongs yourself. You’ll watch, learn, taste, and cook throughout the session, all while surrounded by the scent of real charcoal and sizzling meat.

The class runs in our purpose-built BBQ shed at BBQ Land, just outside Hitchin (SG4 7HD). Come rain or shine, the coals will be glowing and the grills will be fired up.

Click and Collect is from our Hitchin, Hertfordshire Shop and Warehouse, Monday-Friday 9.30am-4.00pm - just choose the 'Local Pickup' delivery option at the checkout. This option will only be available if all the items in your Basket are available for 'Local Pickup'.

Delivery is via Courier, and the delivery date is shown under the 'Add to Basket' button above. This does not apply to Yeti orders where Free Shipping has been chosen. Yeti orders with Free Shipping chosen are delivered by Royal Mail, and can take up to 8 Days to be delivered.
